Tossing her dark locks behind her ears, Ebony followed the rest of her siblings into the kitchen for dinner, walking with sharp steps. Before she got a chance to even reach a seat at the table however, she was pulled away by a posh looking woman, probably in her thirties, wearing a buissness suit. Ebony was bewildered, wondering who this woman was and what she could possibly want with one such as herself. The woman gave her a kindly smile, and Ebony felt the sickly-sweet prickle of fear shoot through her, anxiety kicking in upon seeing this new person. She gave a shudder both of disgust and delight at the feeling before focusing her attention back on the lady now looming over her.

"Are you Ebony?" the woman asked over the rim of her glasses, looking down on her like nothing more than an insect. A horrid frown crossed her features, as the woman had used her name. Who gave her the right to do that? Grumbling internally about this, she gave a nod of 'yes' towards her. She chuckled inside as she watched her siblings around her, that may well have been giving her some odd looks. If they were, that was normal, she was used to it. She was the black sheep of the family. The weird one. Ebony turned and glared out at her onlookers, then back to the woman with a false smile: "Yes miss?"

The woman smiled again, but this time there was something else in her eyes. Pity perhaps?? Before Ebony could properly decipher the emotion, it was gone in a flash. "Hello Ebony, it's lovely to meet you!" she drawled in a voice like honey. Too sweet for Ebony's liking. "I just came to introduce myself, im what's called a 'counsellor' and im here to talk with you about you're... problems" she explained. Ebony blinked, and she lowered her eyebrows confusedly, already fearing the worst. She wasn't as stupid as her family thought her to be, she knew what a counsellor was. They thought she was ill, mad, insane.

Hot tears pricked at her eyes, threatening to spill over. Without another word the small black haired girl ran past the counsellor, away from the kitchen, away from her family and out the door. Once outside, she headed for the park. It was dark and cold, the last remnants of snow on the ground melting, and the sun going down. Ebony preferred the darkness, even though it made her anxious. Ignoring the shouts of protest from the distance, the girl grabbed a candle from her jacket pocket and set it beside her, lighting it up and watching the flame flicker. "Send me a sweet nightmare, Mr Boogeyman." she whispered as she closed her eyes, leaning against a wall and trying to force herself to go to sleep.

“Ya~Hoooo!” Came the sound of a very youthful winter spirit, he had been off in Canada only moments ago, but he had used the wind to ride his way back home, and it seemed like the snow was melting, well let’s just say that this was not okay by any Jack Frost standards, and so within seconds snow began to fall from the sky, and the boy glided across the ground on ice, icing the roads over for the evening so that next morning nobody could go to work or school. He continued on this way, jumped up onto the street over a curb, and slid over to a familiar park. Using his staff, he pushed from tree to tree freezing the trees over, and he did a quick flip over onto a swing top and hung down from it and tilted his head a little.

There was a young girl sitting there, and what had he just heard come from her mouth? Wait.. Pitch?! Jack’s eyes widened as he stared at her, she probably didn’t see him, he was used to that, but Pitch? No! That was just a bad idea, and so he swung from his hanging position on the swing and flew on over to the girl, he squatted in front of her and tilted his head looking at her curiously, why was she asking for Pitch.

“You don’t want Pitch…” He spoke out quietly, as he swung his staff over to sit comfortably on his shoulders, and he hung his hands upon it, still squatting in front of the girl and staring at her in a silent concern. A candle, and she was asking for Pitch, how could one possibly do that? Pitch was bad, evil… Full of darkness and bad dreams and wishes upon everyone, who would want something like that for themselves?

"Really Jack?" The darkness seemed to twist around him as Pitch Black stepped out into the candle light. A small chuckle curled from his mouth, darker than the very sky, sending wisps of hot air into the cold surrounding them. Not that Pitch could feel the breeze, although it toyed with the hem of his robe.

His golden eyes gleamed, resting on the human. After a moment, however, his gaze shifted back to the frostling. "I am sure that the little one is old enough to understand what she wants." Pitch lifted a brow, although no line of hair indicated this movement. "How about you, Jack?" He emphasized the last word, his tongue toying around it, as if he were tasting each letter. "Do you know what you want?"

Lowering his arms, they rested with palms parallel to the ground, as he stepped closer to the human. His head lowered, considering her with a narrowed gaze. Could she possibly see him? Believe in him? Now that he considered her completely, he could not help but to cling to the notion that he had seen her before. Perhaps he had watched her nightmares, once upon a time.

He smirked at the phrase. It made everything seem almost happy. And of course, without happiness, how could Pitch ruin anything?

After yet another moment of silence, he turned towards Jack. "Why not fly away now, little guardian?"

Ebony shivered as the temperature suddenly dropped, causing her to pull herself into a tight little ball, wishing for just a second that she would have grabbed a jacket or something before running out of the door. As cold, wet little droplets hit her skin, without even needing to open her eyes she knew that it had started snowing again. Weird, the weatherman hadn't predicted any more snowfall for at least the next week.

Even weirder was the fact that she felt like she was being watched. Ebony had the feeling like she wasn't alone out there any more, even though it was far too late for any kids to be playing outside, and she didn't hear anyone either. Anyone else would have been scared, but not Ebony. In fact she allowed herself to relax a little, welcoming the feeling of unease. It would have been unnatural to feel perfectly okay in this situation, so the feeling was comforting, reassuring even.

Then she heard it. A dark chuckle coming from somewhere not too far away from where she sat, the sound seemed to echo around the area, and again she shivered. She heard words, but the snow along with the roaring sound of adrenaline and fear rushing through her ears, meant that she couldn't make out what was being said. Again there cam the feeling of being watched, but this time it was much stronger, and Ebony peeked one violet eye open...

Only to find herself face to face with the very same Boogeyman she'd been calling for. Yes, she could see him alright, the grey figure with piercing yellow eyes, looming over her in an almost curious way. Opening her other eye, Ebony allowed herself the smallest of smiles as she look back at him. This was the first time she had actually seen him, despite her set-in-stone belief, since she rarely slept enough to have nightmares.

To be honest, the girl wasn't sure if she was glad that he'd come or not, there was niggling doubt in her mind, a whisper of fear and danger. Taking a deep breath, she whispered softly "H- hello." It seemed like a lame thing to say in the presence of the Boogeyman, but then... what did one say in this situation? "Who were you talking too?"

When the darkness came, Jack jumped up onto his feet and grabbed onto his staff firmly, holding it forward in an offensive position, he glared squinting in the darkness until he finally saw the dark figure step out. There he was, Pitch Black himself, the "Boogeyman" as he called himself, Jack's expression was not so friendly nor concerned anymore not in the same way that it had been anyway.

He looked over to the young girl who had uttered a small "hello" she couldn't see him, not a surprise. But she could see Pitch? Why? Why was that even a thing? How could someone see Pitch, and not see Jack, Jack was a good Guardian, a spirit that protected the childhood of others! He stared at the girl for a moment in absolute shock, before turning back to Pitch as he spoke. "She's young! You can't just take advantage of her!" He was ready to protect the girl and show her that darkness was not the way, maybe a snowflake for her nose...?

"I know what I want, Pitch!" The other spirit, always instilled fear and doubt in anyone surrounding him and Jack knew that this doubt was not real doubt, but even that confidence was starting to become doubt, and he chewed on his lower lip a bit, no... It was just the effects of the dark one, this wasn't real, he knew what he wanted.

"Don't bother trying to scare me, Pitchy!" Jack sprinkled a nickname for the man clad in black, maybe it would make him a bit angry, but it was entertaining for Jack who managed a smirk at his own words. "I've told you, I'm not scared of you." He paused, wait.. LITTLE Guardian?! Jack growled a little, his grin fading immediately.

"Put a sock in it, Pitch. I am not flying anywhere, especially not with this girl who you are bound to take advantage of, I won't let her have nightmares." It was his job to protect children from Pitch, and darkness. He would stand by this, confidently.. Or as confidently as he could with doubt lingering about.

How interesting.

Pitch's brow lines, absent of hair, lifted in interest, the corners of his lips curling, amusement quickly painting his usually disdainful expression. So, the girl could see him, but not Jack. Oh, how the tables had turned!

He chuckled softly, smile turning to Jack. "Oh, why don't you leave it, Jacky Boy? Clearly you do not need to offer her any of your 'so called' protection. Even if you did, she would be unable to allow you to help her. Do you want to know why?" The smile quickly changed to a sneer, although vicious amusement was still entirely evident. "Here's a clue. She can't see you Jack. She can't hear you. She doesn't believe in you."

A much crueler laugh danced as mist in the air. "Why bother? When she has clearly chosen darkness, as opposed to your light?" His expression turned from Jack, to the girl before him. "Hello."

Ebony watched this entire conversation from the sidelines, and it was extremely strange because to her it simply seemed like the boogeyman was talking to thin air. Whoever it was he was talking too though, he seemed to enjoy the fact that Ebony couldn't see or hear them, and as a natural response, this caused Ebony to smile too.

She didn't understand half of what he was saying, a one-sided conversation was always the hardest. She tried to fill in the gaps but without any idea of what the person he was talking too was like, Ebony couldn't even guess what they were saying. The one thing she did manage to pick out of the whole thing, was a name: Jack.

"Who's Jack?" she asked confusedly, standing up from her position on the now snow-covered ground. Her legs felt tingly and numb from where she'd been sitting there for so long, and she was shivering more than ever. She wished it wasn't so cold, hugging herself for warmth as she continued to star up at the grey figure with fear, apprehension, and admiration in her gaze all at once.

She became afraid for a moment that her parents might follow her, or be trying to find her. They'd take her home for sure and drag her away from this moment, the one time she'd actually gotten to meet her dark idol. "I should go..." she mumbled, kicking the snow beneath her feet, though it was clear from her tone and body language that she'd no intention of leaving.

(OOC: Sorry it's short.. I'm busy right now and didn't want to make you guys wait. <3)

Jack frowned over at Pitch, and then over to the girl who could not see him. How? How could she believe in Pitch? But not believe at Jack Frost nipping at her nose? It was such a basic saying, wasn't it something that everyone believed in essentially? At one point or another, he looked over to Pitch then and glared. "Well I can make her believe!" He huffed with a pout, that childish pout that he was so well known for when he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, and thus he looked over to the girl, and with a small flick of his fingers a snowflake went to her nose and touched it upon her. Maybe she'd see things in a more fun manner, and maybe even be able to see him then?

Maybe.....
